as above, so below

The Eclipse covers all. From the bright moon-corpses hanging in the sundered sky in which Magnus’ gaze darkens, leaving the denizens of the Gray to wander in darkness. It covers all ground, every inch of the Mundus and Oblivion, waiting to be given light of discovery and clarity born from the mind-organ. All people, too, all covered: little flitting candlelights in the void that await to be snuffed out by that which dwells in it - the fires of the Starry-Heart’s dragons have reduced to dead, dwindled ashes. It is by these small, dwindling lights, that the truth is found. Grouped together to guide one another through the pitch blackness of the unknown, as madness and uncertainty grip at the mind, grasping for any manner of justice, truth, knowledge and rightness to be found across the Wheel’s many spokes. They find themselves above and below, in the Celestial Palanquin and from which they are carried into the great unknown, where all is Maybe: the realm of Daedra, forgotten and forlorn secrets, rules and laws (or lack thereof) that mortal minds cannot, or will not, comprehend. But still they try, the most virtuous of them do it for the sake of mortal-kind and justice; others for coin and love of the hunt. In the Mundus, they find truth in matters that are all ink and no text, the arcane obscure and the breaching of fundamental realities by forces both mundane and uncanny. They are the academics and mages, the hunters of monster, men and mystery, the righteous and wicked, oathsworn and mercenary, bound only by one thing: the Eclipse that shrouds them all, and the truths found there within.

The Eclipse Inquisitorum is an unorthodox, curious collection of investigators united in purpose to find the truth across the Aurbis. Nestled not so neatly in two locales, that of Fargrave’s city district and in Leyawiin, the Inquisitorum takes clients whose issues are often beyond the expertise of more traditional bodies and organizations. Be it investigating arcane anomalies found in myriad planes, the client mortal or Daedra and all the complications arising from such a thing, or skulking in the alleys of a city chasing a murderer whose habits confound law enforcement, the Inquisitorum will uncover all.

the inquisitorum

Nestled comfortably along the edges of Fargrave's City District, overlooking those gargantuan skeletons of the Bearers, is the Inquisitorum - home to the Eclipse. The location once bore another name and was used at the whims of a House Hexos exile, Cnisia Hexos, who split from the family during their earliest days in Fargrave for attempting to make his own version of Redmaiden. It is said that he made a pact with Hermaeus Mora to use pools of Apocryphal Ink and sacred water to travel between the realms to distribute his psuedo-Redmaiden without the intereference of the Tong - the Grasp, finding this unacceptable, requisitioned the building to House Hexos where it lay dormant for centuries. Evidence of Cnisia's plot still rests in the basement of the Inquisitorum now, with his poorly constructed portals constantly bleeding elements from the other realms. From the Mundus tear came rocks and streams to feed the ceremonial waters, and from the Void comes ink and sludge that leave the walls eternally slick. It's likely Hermaeus Mora attempted to strike this knowledge from Cnisia's mind; these days, the portals are dangerously unstable without the careful attunement of portal keys.

Adjudicator
The firm owner and operator of the Inquisitorum, responsible for payroll, gathering leads and intel, and managing relations with allies, affiliates, and beneficiaries both on our plane and otherwise.
Justiciar
Once lovingly referred to as the "Adjudicator's attack dog", the Justiciar acts as second-in-command. Handling field work falls upon their shoulders, as well as day-to-day operations.

about us

The Eclipse Inquisitorum is a small, lawful evil RP guild full of people who enjoy writing together and exploring the strange, esoteric, and deeply weird parts of Tamriel and Elder Scrolls lore. Our philosophy behind enjoying the setting resolves around bending but not breaking the lore - We get up to some off-the-cuff hijinks that may not always be strictly lore compliant, but adhere to the setting as best we can.Themes of the Eclipse Inquisitorum tend to include:
- Mystery and investigation
- Interplanar intrigue and Daedric power struggles (and how mortals fit into that)
- Horror/cosmic horror
- Occultism
- Eldritch-style cryptids, beings, and objects
- Crime or otherwise morally grey situations (the things we do for the greater good)
While there's no limit on what character concepts can apply, these types would likely fit in best:
- Investigators
- Bounty hunters
- Mercenaries (looking to do more than just run of the mill mercenary work)
- Informants/spies
- Daedrologists
- Scholars/historians/researchers
- Occultists, or mages interested in forbidden magics
NOTE: Though the Eclipse bears no allegiance to any specific Daedric Prince, its individual members might. Characters hostile towards Daedra need not apply. Our primary method of facilitating RP is via a case file system. Cases will be posted in Discord for members to pick up, then carried out via IC letters, DMed events in game, or Discord RP where needed. Cases may tie into larger guild plots, and can be picked up by any member in the guild (or multiple, if members work together!).Anyone in the guild is welcome to post cases, and anyone can DM. We welcome and encourage new DMs to try their hand at it with us, and are happy to provide guidance!

ooc expectations

1. This is an 18+ space. That being said, please do not share porn or explicitly sexual material - This is not an ERP group.2. Maintain a friendly environment. Harassment, hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia, or discrimination will not be tolerated. Playful banter is acceptable and encouraged, but don't be cruel for the sake of it.3. Passive aggressive behavior will not be tolerated, and neither will dragging the guild into drama. Resolve issues between yourselves if you can, and reach out to admins for assistance.4. Being in a guild and attending events is a privilege, not a right. Be nice to your DMs. Feedback, positive or negative, should be constructive and not with the intent of being shitty to any DM.5. Real life does come first, but please communicate if something comes up.6. We'll likely be using housing for a lot of our RP, but would recommend having the Blackwood and Deadlands DLCs for access to Leyawiin and Fargrave.7. Use AI to generate RP posts, plots, or any other sort of written/creative activity and you get the boot. Do not use AI "art" in your character profiles.

rp expectations

1. The basics: No godmodding, no metagaming, no powergaming, no bleeding. Try to limit your purple prose if you are writing 20 paragraph posts. Communicate if something makes you uncomfortable, and don't be a creep.2. Don't break the lore, but don't get weird about bending the lore or homebrewing the occasional concept either. We know 'Oblivion Investigators' as a concept is a little out there, but lore debates can get pretty heated.3. Though this is a serious RP guild, we aren't always taking ourselves 100% seriously. Sometimes we shitpost in our posts, but we also know the limits. Just be a little bit socially aware and make sure to tone it back upon request.4. We're not prudes, but don't ERP in public. No need to share your ERP in guild chat, either. Time and place.5. We don't have a character sheet, and whether or not rolls will be used is entirely up to the DM. If you attend an event, just do whatever the DM asks. Freeform combat is a system built on trust in what your characters can do and you as the writer to let them take a hit.6. No Vestiges or otherwise stupid canon-involved characters (no, you cannot be a 3000 year old vampire besties with Divayth Fyr that has their own pocket realm).6. Alts are totally cool so long as they are all involved with the Guild in some manner.Important note:
Despite the nature of this guild including RP that does happen across Oblivion, there are still mortal conflicts, racial tensions, and politics involved with our cast of characters.
- Monsters (vampires/werewolves) are expected to keep their afflictions in check.
- We're only interested in the mortal races of Tamriel (no Daedra characters - they'll likely just be NPCs).
- Reachmen should expect some friction, but Maormer may need a special case for their acceptance.
- Necromancers should not be overt.
- Stupid and overt criminal behavior will not be tolerated.

activity policy

Inactivity is the guild-killer. We have a three strikes activity policy - Three violations and you will be removed and have to reapply to join again.Violations include:
- RSVPing for an event and no showing with no communication.
- RSVPing and cancelling at the last second without communication.
- Consecutive last minute cancels that are communicated.
- No activity for 30 days.
If you're going to be out for an extended period, that is totally okay as real life does come first - but you have to let us know. We would like to see you and your character at least once a month. If you notify us about a period of inactivity and end up being gone for more than three months, you can apply again to rejoin.
